Bethan Gray graduated in 1998 from De Montfort University with a degree in Three Dimensional Design Specialising in Furniture. Her work was immediately recognised with her winning the New Designers Award from Habitat. She spent 2 years working freelance for Habitat and others, before signing up full time for Habitat.
Over the next 8 years she made a significant contribution, becoming Head of Furniture. She produced 16 collections in total and her own designs comprise many of the best sellers - notably the Parker and Hanna ranges. She went on to win the Elle Dec Award for her Pimlico Kitchen range and also contributed to Habitat winning the Elle Dec Best High St Retailer both in '07 and '08.
She has now set up Bethan Gray Designs, designing furniture collections and bespoke restaurant projects. She designs both linearly and sculpturally, with simple well defined lines, sometimes arranged randomly, but always maintaining balance. Her products are contemporary, with a certain solidity, and are equally at home in a classical environment. She is inspired by structure, shape, detail and colour in objects of all scales and sizes.
